The Gaslini Institute was founded by Senator Gerolamo Gaslini, who financed the construction of a paediatric hospital in memory of his daughter Giannina, hoping to spare other parents the grief of losing a child. The hospital was built in a park by the sea so that looking out any window one would see the blue of the sea and the sun shining.
Since then, thousands of children have been treated with loving care and the utmost professionalism, in keeping with the the founder’s wishes.
This is still the hospital’s driving force, and it has led Gaslini to become a centre for excellence in paediatric care, in Italy and worldwide.
In this section you will be able to learn more about our excellence and will be updated with our scientific successes. Because these successes are not only ours, but above all yours.
